1st Year Student Rep - Mathieu Lebon- Volia

My name is Mathieu Lebon- Volia. I come from France, I moved to Lethbridge in 2015 and graduated from the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) last year. I am currently studying in New Media and Computer Science. I have been involved in a lot of organizations in the past years in school and outside. I was a part of the LCI student council for my last two years of high school, I have been the grade 12 representative and public relations director in my last year of high school. I was also involved in the LCI chapter of the National Honor Society where I was the grade eleven representative between 2017 and 2018 and I got elected to be the vice-president for the 2018-2019 school year. Outside school, I have been involved in the francophone community at the provincial and national level where I had to represent the young francophones of Lethbridge. I also volunteer in a lot of events in my community such as movie nights, the food bank or soup kitchen.

As a member of the Students’ Union Council I will make sure all first year students will be able to submit ideas to the Students’ Union. I will make sure that they are informed of the activities and events organized by the Student Union. I will be the point of relay between the first year students and the Students’ Union, making sure both parties are informed of the ideas, concerns and the comments of each other. I will foster first year student involvement in the activities, making sure everyone feels included and have the opportunity to help if they want. I will also encourage students to volunteer and get involved in the different activities organized by the university or the Students’ Union.
