ULSU Volunteer Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

The ULSU Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, manage and lead the ULSU’s Volunteer Core. This individual will be responsible for organizing both street team promoters and volunteers for ULSU events and anywhere else the ULSU may require volunteers. Responsibilities for the position include the following:

 
Recruitment and Promotion

- Recruiting volunteers for the Core during the first two weeks of September and continuing recruitment throughout the year.

- Promoting Students’ Union events, services, and advocacy efforts

Administration

- Developing a system where volunteer hours are tracked and regularly updated

- Developing job descriptions for various volunteer positions

- Scheduling weekly volunteer street team shifts (when needed)

- Organizing volunteer appreciation

- Submit a monthly report outlining what you have been up to as the volunteer coordinator (can be included in General Assembly report)

Management

- Motivating, supervising and overseeing the work of the volunteers.

- Planning and hosting training sessions for volunteers in the Fall and Winter semesters if necessary

- Ensuring adequate volunteer coverage for each scheduled shift

- Maintaining contact with all volunteers

- Dismissing volunteers if necessary

- Volunteer Coordinator will send out weekly or by-weekly updates out to the volunteer core (via Facebook, e-mail, or both). This will allow the volunteer coordinator to update those volunteers who are already confirmed when/where they will need to be closer to the event.

- Maintain communication by responding to emails from both GA and Volunteers in a timely manner


Operation

- Assisting in the design of a performance based incentive program. An incentive program that is enticing to volunteers, but fair for all those that volunteer

- Performing other jobs as requested by the ULSU Executive Council

- In order to keep communication regular, the volunteer coordinator will meet with the ULSU executives regularly and stay updated on upcoming events and allow opportunity to discuss the delegation of task so both the executive and the volunteer coordinator are on the same page.
