Who are we?
What is the ULSU?
The University of Lethbridge Students' Union (ULSU) is an organization that is in place to help make your experience at the U of L as rewarding and enriching as possible. With nine permanent staff, the Zoo part-time staff members, Convenience store part-time staff, five Executive Council members, and sixteen General Assembly members, we work within the University community, but we are not part of the administration. We are students, just like you. We go to classes. We get stressed about midterms. We spend a lot of time studying.
How does the ULSU benefit me?
We help provide services, like the Health and Dental Plan, ULSU Food Bank, U-Pass, scholarships, bursaries, awards, funding, clubs, smart phone charging stations, food kiosks on 2nd level of the SUB, a convenience store, on-campus catering, and your campus bar and restaraunt - the Zoo. We also put on a variety of events; concerts in the Zoo, Fresh Fest, Last Class Bash, awareness weeks, and we host an academic speaker series, just to name a few. The Executive Council, General Assembly members, and staff of the ULSU all work hard to make the U of L a great place to get an education, but our ultimate purpose is to listen to you.
What does the Executive Council do?
The Executive Council positions are annually elected and charged with addressing the needs of students at the U of L.
We represent you to the local, provincial, and federal governments, as well as University administration. Health and Dental Plan
Our Health and Dental plan provides coverage for medical, dental, vision, and mental health services for all students paying SU fees for the semester. This plan ensures students have coverage for anything that may come up during their academic year. Work Integrated Learning Opportunities
The Students' Union was created by students, for students. This is a strong reason why we hire students to help us with our day to day business, help out with the occasional project, or host interns under our communications department. If you are looking to get involved with the University of Lethbridge Students' Union, send an email to our communications coordinator at su.communications@uleth.ca .
U-PASS
The Universal Transit Pass (UPass) gives students enrolled at the University of Lethbridge unlimited access to local transit during each term they are registered for classes. It is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe way to navigate Lethbridge.
UPass was implemented in Fall 2018 for all undergraduate students taking one or more courses. If you are enrolled in at least one credit course per term at our Lethbridge Campus, you will be assessed the UPASS Fee.
Advocacy
The ULSU advocates on behalf of students and their rights, needs, and interests at various levels of the university and government. This includes efforts on reducing textbook costs, positive changes in policy, academic standards, and student services. At a class level, we work to make classrooms are fair. Our ultimate purpose is to listen and represent you, the student.
Awards
Every year, we recognize students, departments and organizations for their impact on student life at the University of Lethbridge. We present these awards at our annual Awards Dinner at the end of each academic year. Some of these awards highlight leadership, volunteerism, student and club contributions, etc. If you are looking to nominate a student for our 2025 ULSU Awards, you can do so here.
